Do you prefer Jeannot or Jehan? [Like he says the first one correctly, he's never been good at getting Orlesian names down right but when he asked about, some said one name, others another so he'll check.]
These-- the rifters. Being granted personhood, positions of power and prominence alongside mages. You'd understand why a Revered Mother of the Marches who had to shelter some who fled Kirkwall once when all the strife began here a good decade ago has her worries. They've still no Chantry here. How can only two of the leadership in the Gallows be of the Faithful?
[Amsel is a mage but a Knight-Enchanter so she's just about scraping by here.]
[ Not his tongue. And not his parents' tongues, or his friends' tongues. He doesn't honestly care which, but let's go with the one that was pronounced correctly. ]
And this is but an outpost, you must understand. Those here report to Skyhold, to the Left and Right hands, to Commander Cullen, and Lady Montilyet—she is delightful, from what I have heard of her. That does not solve the issue of the Chantry, but the Sisters here do admirable work, I think, with or without a building to house it.
Haven't had much call to polish up my Orlesian for a good fifteen years now. Ghislain were glad to see the back of me.
[Let's pretend it was for his horrific stumbling over a language learnt from squinting at books and guessing where you were supposed to stop in the word and not Deacon being the glowering figure he is today even back then at thirty-five.]
An outpost without the means to do much in the way of a Chantry but a garden. I wanted to aid where I could, not really of any sort of age to be off in the field unless they need an ear and someone to remind them of the Chant but whatever there is to be done here. Wherever it's done. Even meditation. I wasn't expecting such accomodations when I arrived, must say, I was glad for a place of peace on seeing it.

[Who needs that many pillows?]
